Grid-Interactive Solar Planning in Midcoast Maine
Keep utility service while planning solar, storage, and a clear outage strategy. This review separates everyday energy use from the circuits you want supported when the grid goes down.
Solar plus batteries, with defined backup loads
On this site, grid-interactive solar means a utility-connected solar-and-storage concept with planned backup-capable operation. We review the selected loads and equipment functions needed for that goal. Owning a battery does not establish that an existing solar system can safely supply power during an outage.
The concept examines the relationship among the array, inverter, storage, utility service, isolation equipment, and a possible critical-loads panel. For an existing solar system, we identify compatibility questions before assuming a battery retrofit is possible. Any export or non-export configuration must be checked with the serving utility.
Solar Grid-Interactive Design Review
$349 · One-time preliminary planning fee
For one property and one system approach. Includes review of your submitted information, one phone or video discussion of up to 30 minutes, and a written concept roadmap.
Your written roadmap includes
A critical-loads priority worksheet based on the equipment information you provide.
A concept for everyday utility operation and the intended outage mode.
A battery-retrofit or new-system compatibility checklist, with next steps for utility and field review.
A clear decision to pause, collect better data, or involve a specialist is a useful result too. This review does not guarantee project feasibility, a specific energy output, or utility approval.
What to send
Send utility bills if available, existing solar/inverter and panel information, proposed battery-space photos, a list of essential outage loads, and your preferred outage duration. Include well pumps, refrigeration, heating controls, and business equipment you rely on.
Use existing records and safely accessible photos. Do not remove energized equipment covers, climb a roof or tower, or enter a waterway to collect information for this review.
Whole house or essential circuits?
Keeping every large load available changes the equipment conversation. A focused group of priority circuits may be more practical. We help you separate must-run loads from conveniences before pursuing a quote.
Think through storm operation
Tell us what must keep working overnight and between visits to the property. We discuss your requested backup duration and the conditions that could limit it; no runtime is promised without a confirmed load and equipment design.
Confirm the scope before paying
Contact Red Sky with your address and the review name. We will confirm whether the remote review fits your project and send the matching payment link. You keep the written roadmap whether or not Red Sky performs later electrical work.
This is preliminary advisory planning, not a permit-ready or stamped design. Site surveys, wind or water-resource measurement campaigns, detailed equipment specifications, structural and civil engineering, permit applications, utility fees, equipment, and installation are separate services. Any next-stage work is agreed and quoted separately.
